KIMTEK and the Newport City Fire Dept worked closely on every aspect of the build, from the Defender Max X MR chassis requirements to the MEDLITE and FIRELITE skid units they planned to purchase to complete this comprehensive vehicle to cover any off-road situation (remote rescue, wildland fire suppression, search and rescue and more).
The build included tracks for winter, tires for summer. With the easy quick-change aspects of the MEDLITE and FIRELTE Transports, they can change skid units quickly and safely to meet the needs of the specific mission at hand. Once completed, the Newport City Fire Dept Can Am Defender was outfitted with various options and lighting, the skid units were fitted to the cargo bed and a fully operational off road response vehicle was born.
