September 3, 2014 - Many new UTV 4x4 Models are hitting the market from manufacturers like Kubota, John Deere, Polaris and Kawasaki. As always, all of the KIMTEK UTV specific skid units for medical and fire/rescue off road response fit most of these new models.
Kubota recently introduced their next generation RTV series 4x4 side by side UTVs. The new Kubota RTV x900, x1100 and x1120. These all come with updated rear cargo beds that feature 2 integrated tie down points on each side, a high strength plastic bed instead of the previous all metal bed and they still carry 1102 lbs, great for most public safety missions.

John Deere, over the last few years has reengineered their line up with the new Gator 625i, 825i, 855D and their new 825i S-4 and 855D S-4 which is their full size crew version able to carry up to 4 passengers and has a new high strength plastic bed able to carry 1,000 lbs. The new JD Gator cargo bed also features integrated tie down points on each side of the bed.
Polaris recently introduced the new Polaris Brutus 4x4, which has the largest size cargo bed in its class with a whopping 1250 lbs cargo bed capacity. The Polaris Ranger 800 and 900 Crew is also very popular able to seat up to 6 passengers and have a cargo bed capacity of 1000 lbs. One important side note: the Polaris 900 XP and Crew have a new wishbone style suspension which does not handle cargo loads very well without squatting. The fix here is several aftermarket shock manufacturers that offer shocks which will fix the problem and not break the bank. The new Ranger 900 series have integrated tie down points in the new bed.
Kawasaki has introduced their new model called the PRO-FXT. This is a transformable mode where you can seat either 3 people or 6 people. KIMTEK skid units will only work in the 1 seat 3 passenger mode. The PRO-FXT has a 1000 lbs cargo bed capacity.
Intimidator - A new player in the UTV side by side market is the Intimidator 4x4 Utility Vehicles made in the USA by Intimidator, Inc. out of Batesville, AR. They offer a 4x4, Crew 4x4 and Truck 4x4 with great cargo bed capacities and proper sized cargo beds. The 4x4 and Truck 4x4 UTV holds 1200 lbs cargo bed capacity while the CREW holds 1000 lbs. These are great looking units that we at KIMTEK have not seen personally but have received some feedback from customers who are impressed with their attention to detail and quality.
Keep in mind, most all UTV manufacturers have introduced smaller cc and thinner models to sell to the customer who would like to transport the UTV around in the back of their pickup. Typically these side by side units have cargo beds that are too small and only carry 400 lbs which make them unsuitable for the public safety industry.
